the reeds are what do the work. they're fibre sticks, porous the whole way through, so they draw the oil blend up out of the bottle and let it release slowly off the top into the room. nothing burns, nothing heats, nothing switches on.

unscrew the collar, take off the plug, put it back on and slide all five reeds in. give it a few hours to travel. flip the reeds when you want the throw back up. three reeds for a small room, all five for a big one. stand it on a coaster, away from direct sun and off polished or painted surfaces.

how long does it actually last?
30 to 45 days on all five reeds, and longer if you run three. it depends on your room: heat, airflow and humidity all speed it up. a bathroom will run faster than a bedroom.

is it too strong?
it can be, and that's deliberate. we blend at roughly twice the concentration of a standard diffuser because the usual complaint about reed diffusers is that you can't smell them. if it's too much, pull a reed or two out. that's the dial.

do i need to flip the reeds?
only when you want the throw back up. flipping re-wets the dry end and gives you a lift for a day or two. once a week is plenty. flipping more often uses the oil faster.

is it safe around kids and pets?
there's no flame, no heat and no electricity, so nothing to supervise. keep the bottle itself out of reach and don't let anyone handle the wet reeds, the oil is concentrated. wash your hands if you touch them.

what's the free candle?
a 40 g candle in the same scent, in every box. it's there so you can layer: light the candle when people are over, let the diffuser hold the room the rest of the time.

will it stain my furniture?
the oil can mark polished wood, painted surfaces and some stone if it's spilled or drips down the bottle. stand it on a coaster or a tray. that's the only real care instruction.
