the details+

A sturdy, cupped vessel for burning sage, sandalwood, palo santo or resin - the smoke that clears a space and marks a beginning. Rough and pale on the outside, made to darken and season on the inside as it does its work. Over the weeks the ash and stain settle in and it stops looking new - which, for a piece like this, is exactly when it looks its best.

Why does mine look a little different from the photos?
Every piece is finished by hand, so the colour and texture change slightly from one to the next. It's meant to.

the use
it is meant to get marked

Most things we make are meant to stay the way they arrived. This one is not.

It is a cupped burner for sage, palo santo, sandalwood or resin. The outside stays pale and rough. The inside darkens a little every time you use it.

After a few weeks it stops looking new and starts looking used, in the good way, like a pan that has cooked a lot of dinners.

don't scrub the inside
why ubud
named after a town of makers
Ubud is a town in the hills of central Bali. The villages around it are known for their crafts: Mas for wood carving, Celuk for silver, Batubulan for stone. Every morning, small offerings of flowers and rice go out on doorsteps and shop counters before the day starts. This collection is for the small things you do at home every day, like lighting a candle, burning something that smells good, or setting the table for friends.
after cleaning
